Burri, Lehni, horgenglarus, the collection for Atelier Pfister, all of them like to collaborate with quality-conscious Swiss companies?
It goes without saying that it is a huge honour to be able to work with such companies. And best of all if it’s on a regular basis. It’s important to know a company in order to mutually inspire each other. And for me, chairs represent the supreme discipline of furniture design.
They work in the area of product and property design, but also as interior designers and scenographers. Why this wide spectrum?
With their fixed fees, I need interior design and scenography projects in order to run my studio. On the one hand, therefore, the various fields of activity are therefore a result of financial necessity. But on the other hand, the diversity brings me a lot of pleasure. I have realised that context is important to me. And context is something I understand quite differently. At horgenglarus, it’s the history and tradition of a company that inspires me. Using this as a litmus test for yourself is a challenge.
But I also design and execute liturgical furniture for churches. Sacred spaces also represent an important context for me. Re-fitting churches is something I find incredibly fascinating. And when society accepts these spaces as a matter of course, it’s a huge source of satisfaction for me.
